Alongside its flagship smartwatch, Samsung seems to be redesigning its flagship TWS earbuds this year. A fresh leak reveals the Galaxy Buds 3 Pro will sport a stemmed design similar to Apple’s AirPods lineup. The new pair of wireless earphones are expected to launch in July.
Samsung’s Galaxy Buds 3 Pro has a stemmed design
Last month, a report surfaced saying Samsung’s next-gen wireless earbuds could feature a stemmed design for improved battery life and voice call quality. The latest leak has confirmed the rumored redesign. We have an image of the Galaxy Buds 3 Pro originating from prolific tipster Evan Blass. The tipster seemingly shared the photo with his Substack subscribers via an emailed newsletter.
The image is masked with a mosaic pattern, likely to avoid DMCA notices and takedowns. However, the product’s shape is still obvious, revealing its overall design. Like Apple’s TWS offerings, the Galaxy Buds 3 Pro has a stem running down from its body. We can also see a silicone ear tip. A similar leak from the same source recently revealed the design of several other upcoming Samsung products.
The previous report said a stemmed design would allow Samsung to equip the Galaxy Buds 3 Pro with a bigger battery. We exclusively revealed last week that the new earbuds will offer six hours of continuous media playback on a single charge with ANC, aka Active Noise Cancelation, enabled (battery capacity is still unknown). The Galaxy Buds 2 Pro has a 61mAh battery in each bud and lasts about five hours.
With the charging case, the new earbuds should give you a total playtime of around 30 hours, a notable jump from the 25 hours of playtime you get with the previous-gen model. A stemmed design also brings microphones closer to your mouth, which, in theory, should improve voice clarity during calls. Moreover, it allows for earlier playback controls thanks to a larger surface area to swipe on.
The buds feature Bluetooth v5.4 and an IP57 rating
We have already detailed the Galaxy Buds 3 Pro’s specs in our exclusive report. The new TWS offering from Samsung comes with Bluetooth v5.4 with a dual-driver design. The Korean firm has improved the ruggedness of the buds, bumping the pair to an IP57 rating for dust and water resistance. The previous model has an IPX7 rating. Stay tuned for the official launch next month. If leaks are accurate, we are exactly a month away from Samsung’s next Unpacked event.
