Samsung accidentally reveals Galaxy Watch FE before official launch

Failing to plug Galaxy Watch FE leaks, Samsung seems to have joined the party. The company has named the unannounced watch on its official websites in multiple regions. In one instance, it promoted the device as a gift with the Galaxy S24. The first-ever Fan Edition smartwatch is still missing a launch date.

Samsung names the Galaxy Watch FE on its website before launch

The Galaxy Watch FE isn’t a completely new product developed by Samsung. It is a rebadged Galaxy Watch 4, the company’s flagship offering from 2021. The Korean firm has fitted it with new straps and is preparing to relaunch it as an entry-level offering in its smartwatch portfolio. Since the Galaxy Watch 4 is still a competent device, this might be a good move from Samsung as long as it prices the FE model aggressively.

Leaks suggest the Galaxy Watch FE will debut with a price tag of around €200 or $200, which sounds fair. It may not be long before Samsung officially confirms everything. While the company hasn’t announced a launch date yet, it has started listing the device on its website. Samsung’s US business website has a blank product page ready for the watch. It mentions the device’s name on the page, its title, and the URL.

The webpage confirms that the Galaxy Watch FE will be available in black. It bears the model number SM-R861 and will come in a 40mm size with Bluetooth connectivity. Samsung is also expected to launch an LTE variant (SM-R866). The wearable may not come in any other size, though. The listing on the US website doesn’t reveal anything more about the device, but the company spilled the beans on its French website too.

In this case, Samsung published a promotion offering the Galaxy Watch FE for free with a Galaxy S24. Buyers can pick any Galaxy S24 model and activate an Orange or VOO line to get the watch for free. The promotion is valid till June 30, though buyers can register the device until August 30 to redeem their gift. This likely means Samsung will launch the watch within the next few weeks.

The watch may be headed to the market soon

We can’t tell if these Galaxy Watch FE listings on Samsung’s official website are accidental or deliberate. However, all recent developments suggest the device is headed to the market soon. The company may unveil it before Galaxy Unpacked next month. The upcoming event will bring the Galaxy Watch 7 and Galaxy Watch Ultra, both running a new version of Wear OS and One UI Watch. The FE model ships with the existing version, so Samsung may launch it early.
